New look for link shares on Google+ introduced some new problems to G+ API.
New look for link shares on Google+ introduced some new problems to G+ API.
Activities received over G+ API do not contain any information about the link itself, no url, no title, nothing. Bug was reported (thanks Gerwin Sturm) but it may take Google+ team some time to fix it.
So for the time being we do not recommend to use new links if is it possible.
UPDATE: Google fixed it! Problem solved.

New look for link shares on Google+
A link share, or embedded link, is when you create a Google+ post and paste a URL into the “Link” field (versus a photo or video). If your featured image is wide enough (assume 570px or more) you’ll get this beautiful new look, with the title, business page name (for some), and meta description written underneath.
Google+ has now joined the ranks of Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest for giving links more visual love in the stream.
As it turns out, this article talks a little more about what you should be thinking about when it comes to social media posting, and I can’t help but smile at what this is going to do for my results 😀
UPDATE: These link shares are now all nofollow (although Joshua Berg found one that’s hidden and still may pass “juice” but this is such a new development that it’s too early to tell whether that will still be the case)

Best Google+ Tools To Simplify Your Marketing Activities

Best Google+ Tools To Simplify Your Marketing Activities
Good evening guys, whether you’re an individual marketer or a brand, it is so important to have a strong presence on Google+. We all know that, isn’t it? But the most common issue among marketing pros is not having enough time to get things done efficiently. And that’s exactly why we use tools and sites that help us get things done quickly and brilliantly.
Couple of weeks back, I’ve made a thread here asking the humans of Google+ to share their favorite Google+ marketing tools and websites, and here’s the result of that discussion.
As always, CircleCount remains as the most recommended G+ tool 🙂
Check this list of Google+ marketing tools you guys suggested: http://www.mervikhaums.com/googleplus/best-google-tools-and-apps-for-brands-and-marketing-professionals
I’d like to thank CircleCount, Circloscope, Friends+Me, Google Plus Follower Stats, Steady Demand, gplusrss.com, PicMonkey, RebelMouse, Sprout Social for answering my message and providing the necessary details. 🙂

Warning: Sharing That Image Could Get You Banned or Blacklisted

Warning: Sharing That Image Could Get You Banned or Blacklisted
Most people have no idea that the way in which they are sharing images on #SocialMedia or on their blogs could actually get them banned, blacklisted, or worse!
In this next part of my Sharing Images Online series I take on the heavy task of explaining the legal side of sharing images in a simple way that everyone can understand.
Read the full post here: http://dustn.tv/sharing-images-responsibly/
It basically boils down to this – you either have explicit written consent to use an image, or you don’t. And if you use someone’s copyrighted image because you just so happened to find it online you risk having your social media account deleted/banned or your website blacklisted!
Let’s all make the internet a better place for creators and curators alike and stop sharing images recklessly, and stop supporting those who knowingly (or unknowingly) do as well.
In the full post I tried to keep it as dead simple as possible but also note more in-depth reading of the subject from Peg Fitzpatrick, Ana Hoffman, and Sara Hawkins (image copyright expert).
Do you have any questions regarding the sharing of images? It’s a dense topic, but following some basic best practices can make it simple.
