All is not well after database migration 😦

Invalid links have been shared after database migration.

Friends+Me shortener sequence was not migrated successfully and this problem caused that Friends+ME started to repost new G+ posts with invalid back-links.

Approximately 601 reposts were affected. Manual database restore in progress…

I am so so sorry.

UPDATE: Database fixed. All reposts will be re-published, correctly this time.

[Scheduled Maintenance] Database migration – Jun 17, 09:00-10:15 CEST

To improve quality and stability of Friends+Me service I’ve decided to migrate Mongolab database to Google Cloud.

Migration should not take more than 1 hour during that time Friends+Me web site will not be accessible and all publishing will be paused.

UPDATE1: Migration in progress…
UPDATE2: Import to a new database started to be super slow, I am trying to solve it with MongoLab support. Things may take longer than expected 😦
UPDATE3: Import speed looks good, we’re back on track 🙂

Hey everyone, I have a question for you regarding link shortening!

What are some other link shortening use cases if we rule out making long links shorter because it’s just shorter?

What? I am trying to figure out why are people using link shortening, what are their use cases and if there’s a better way to achieve those goals for example using Google Analytics and “UTM tracking”.

Why? I am thinking hard about how to integrate click-through analytics to Friends+Me to deliver the best value in the less annoying way.)
